Bearing Application Requirements
For large civil engineering projects, heavy equipment such as bulldozers and scrapers move earth and aggregates into place to create a surface called “rough grade”. From this, motorized graders provide a flat or inclined surface to obtain the final surface called “finish grade”.
This smooth surface is created by a long blade fixed to the grader that is precisely adjusted in position and angle by hydraulic cylinders and a system of linkages and pivots.
GGB Bearing Solution for Construction Machinery
To simplify blade set-up and blade adjustment, self-lubricating, maintenance-free HSG (High Strength GAR-MAX®) fiber reinforced composite bearings are mounted in many of the pivots, including articulation cylinders, blade tilt cylinders, lean cylinders, lift cylinder trunnions, lift arms, frame pivots and lock bars.
High performance, heavy-duty HSG plain bearings offer the following benefits:
- Environmentally friendly dry operation eliminating possible soil pollution from grease
- Reduced equipment costs without the need for lubrication systems, pathways, hoses, nipples/zerks and expensive grease retention seals
- Reduced ownership cost with maintenance-free operation and extended service life
- Higher productivity without downtime for bearing maintenance and replacement
- Lightweight, compact and rugged bearing design with excellent resistance to shock loads, shaft misalignment and abrasion
- Composite bearing structure provides outstanding chemical and corrosion resistance
